About Black & White Photography: We see the world in glorious color—and this is good! But to see the world in black and white and all the shades of gray, forces the viewer to “take a closer look.” With black and white, we become more cognizant of pattern, shape, form, texture, shadow and detail. Black and white photography—when properly done-- is far more challenging than is color—but also very rewarding. It is an excellent tool for practicing the “art of seeing.”

Bridge Over Blue Creek	This swinging foot bridge over Blue Creek in Adams County, Ohio, seems to go from nowhere to nowhere, adding a bit of mystery. Morning Light	During a photo workshop in Rockport, Maine, the class hurried out to shoot their next assignment. I looked around our empty classroom and found this tableau. Eggemoggin Reach	The rugged coast of Maine's Blue Hill Peninsula is an artist's paradise; the mood and the light change constantly.
